SME Capacity Building That Addresses the Management Gap, Not the Funding Gap
Capital, market access and technical assistance all assume one thing: that the business can be managed well enough to absorb them. B2CEO™ delivers the leadership and management curriculum your SME portfolio is usually missing — co-branded, M&E-ready, and built for African operating conditions.
The Programme Problem
You Can Fund a Business Faster Than You Can Build a Manager.
Most SME support programmes in Uganda and across Africa are well designed for what they set out to do. Grants and loans reach businesses. Technical assistance improves a product. Market linkages open a channel. Then the same constraint surfaces in the portfolio review: the enterprise cannot use what it was given, because one person is still making every decision.
A grantee hires four people and loses three within a year. A borrower grows revenue and loses margin because nothing was priced deliberately. A promising business stalls the moment the founder is unavailable, because nothing was written down. None of these are capital problems. They are management problems, and they are rarely anyone's explicit mandate inside a programme.
B2CEO™ exists to be that mandate. It is one structured, repeatable curriculum you can embed in an existing programme calendar, aimed squarely at the management capability that determines whether your other interventions convert into growth.
Delivery
Four Ways Organisations Use the Curriculum
Embedded cohort
B2CEO facilitators deliver the six modules to a cohort drawn from your portfolio, on your calendar, co-branded under your organisation name. UGX 3.5M–8M total for a corporate or organisational cohort.
Donor-funded delivery
Embedded delivery for incubators, accelerators and donor-funded SME development programmes, with a monitoring and evaluation framework included. Negotiated on a subsidised or cost-recovery basis.
Facilitator licensing
Train the Trainer certification licenses the curriculum to your organisation and certifies your own facilitators to deliver it. UGX 2.5M–5M per facilitator — usually the most economical route for repeat cohorts.
Sponsored individual places
Fund places for portfolio businesses in an open B2CEO cohort at UGX 250,000–400,000 per participant, without running a programme of your own.
What Participants Produce
Reportable Outputs, Not Attendance Sheets.
Each module ends with an artefact built inside the participant's own business. That gives a programme something observable to evaluate.

Questions
SME Capacity Building — Common Questions
What does SME capacity building through B2CEO involve?
A structured six-module leadership and management curriculum delivered to a cohort of SME owners drawn from your portfolio, programme or client base. Delivery is customised to your calendar, co-branded under your organisation name, and supported by the same toolkit of 80+ tools and templates and 100 AI prompts used in the open cohort.
The subject matter is deliberately narrow: the management capability that determines whether a funded or supported business can absorb growth. Hiring, delegation, performance management, documented process, financial leadership and practical AI adoption.
Which organisations does this suit?
Business incubators and accelerators; NGOs and development organisations running SME or livelihood programmes; national enterprise agencies; banks, SACCOs, cooperatives and microfinance institutions with business client portfolios; telecoms and FMCG companies with dealer or distributor networks; and corporate CSR or foundation programmes targeting SME development.
The common factor is an organisation whose own results depend on its SME clients or grantees becoming better managed.
Is there monitoring and evaluation support?
Yes. Institutional and donor-funded delivery includes a monitoring and evaluation framework so participation, completion and applied outputs can be reported against programme indicators.
Can our own staff be certified to deliver the curriculum?
Yes. Train the Trainer certification licenses the curriculum and certifies your facilitators to deliver it in your own name, which is usually the more economical route for organisations running repeat cohorts. Certification is UGX 2.5M–5M per facilitator.
What does institutional delivery cost?
A corporate or organisational cohort is UGX 3.5M–8M in total for one organisation, including customised delivery and co-branding. NGO and donor-funded delivery is negotiated on a subsidised or cost-recovery basis. All formats are listed on the formats and investment section.
How is this different from generic business skills training?
Two differences matter for programme results. The curriculum starts from where SME owners in this region actually are — a notebook, mobile money, an accountant they do not fully understand, relatives on the payroll — rather than from a textbook assumption about systems that already exist.
And every module produces an artefact inside the participant business: a written SOP, a hiring filter, a delegation plan, a pricing review. That gives your programme something observable to report on beyond attendance.
